Student Nursing Assistant Program

If you are passionate about helping others and are looking for a job where you can make a difference, we will train you to become a nursing assistant.

Methodist Hospital, in conjunction with Methodist Hospital Foundation and Nebraska Methodist College, has created a Student Nursing Assistant Program. The program is a five-week hybrid and is free with a two-year commitment.

Online Coursework 12 hours per week
In-class Skills Training 4 hours, 1 day a week
Paid, Hands-on Training in Patient Care Unit 8 hours, 2 times a week

Student Expectations

  • Be 16 years or older
  • Complete an employment application
  • Interview and hired for the Student Nursing Assistant Program
  • Successfully complete all new hire on-boarding requirements
  • Complete 76 hours of Nursing Assistant hybrid work which includes 4 hours a week in class and 12 hours a week online
  • Work 16 hours per week of paid on the job training at Methodist Hospital
  • Promptly complete all online and in-person classwork on time
  • Successfully test and pass written and skills exam
  • Have excellent attendance
  • Agree to work as a Nursing Assistant at Methodist Hospital for 2 years at 24 hours or above per week after successful completion of the Nursing Assistant Course
  • Meet the job requirements for the Student Nursing Assistant
  • Have regular access to a computer

Student Fees

  • $43.00 - CNA Text Book
  • $60.00 - Nursing Assistant Scrubs

When the program is completed, students will:

  • Be promoted to Nursing Assistant with a pay increase
  • Commit to working at Methodist Hospital for 2 years
  • Work 12-hour shifts, 24 hours a week for 2 years
  • Will have Basic Life Support (BLS) via American Heart Association
  • Receive a bonus when promoted to Nursing Assistant - $500
  • First bonus paid end of year one (1) of employment - $1,000
  • Second bonus paid end of year two (2) of employment - $1,000
  • Lifelong memories of caring for others
