Nebraska Methodist College Earns Platinum Well Workplace Designation

OMAHA - Nebraska Methodist College - The Josie Harper Campus has been recognized for the by the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) for its commitment to workplace wellness.

The Wellness Council has designated Nebraska Methodist College a Platinum Well Workplace, the highest level of recognition. Thirty seven organizations earned the Platinum distinction nationwide this year, including three in Omaha. NMC, the only Nebraska college to earn the platinum designation, was one of the first three in the nation to earn the platinum award with its inception in 2001. Organizations have to reapply for the award every three years.

The WELCOA Well Workplace Awards recognize companies nationwide for quality and excellence in worksite health promotion. 

"Our faculty, staff and students have accepted the challenge to improve the health of our campus," said Dennis Joslin, Nebraska Methodist College President & CEO. "The campus has really embraced health and wellness as a core belief."

For nearly 25 years NMC has focused on the integration of wellness and health promotion as an essential component of its organizational culture.  Due to this strong focus on health and wellness, the college is able to generate very high participation rates in events, initiatives, programs and surveys without the use of extensive incentive programs.

"We educate future health promotion professionals and we take pride in putting those ideas into practice on our own campus," Joslin said.
