To provide a forum for nurses to discuss the pathophysiology of preeclampsia/eclampsia and the impact it has on the care of the pregnant woman and her neonate.

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe the pathophysiological mechanisms that lead to the clinical presentations of preeclampsia and eclampsia.
  • Apply the knowledge of pathophysiological mechanism in order to better care for the woman with preeclampsia/eclampsia
  • Identify the neonatal effects of preeclampsia/eclampsia.
  • Apply the knowledge of the neonatal effects of preeclampsia/eclampsia in order to better care for the neonate born to a woman with preeclampsia/eclampsia.
