This course engages students with the general principles in effective online instruction, and with the practical online approaches that produce learning.
Participants will be able to:
Identify their own teaching competencies.
Differentiate between classroom learners and online learners, and between limitations and opportunities in online teaching.
Describe four dispositions that effective online instructors must cultivate.
List practical online teaching methods that correspond with classroom instructional tools and interactions.
Apply their own teaching dispositions and knowledge of online practices to plans for teaching online.

Marlin Schaich, PhD is a professor in the Arts and Sciences Division of Nebraska Methodist College. He served for two years as the chair of NMC's Faculty Development Committee for Faculty Senate, and for four years on the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, and in these role collaboratively designed many in-services for training NMC faculty members. Marlin has many years of experience in both classroom-based and online teaching experience at the college level.
