Course Description

Course Description

To provide a forum that increases knowledge related to nursing care of the obstetrical patient.

Course Objectives:

  • Describe care of the patient with hypertensive disorders in pregnancy.
  • Discuss nursing care of common complications in the delivery room.
  • Discuss nursing care of the woman undergoing cervical ripening and/or induction of labor.
  • Identify non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic pain management strategies for the laboring patient.
  • Describe the nurse’s role in the assessment and management of the preterm labor patient.
  • Discuss nursing care of common complications in the delivery room.
  • Demonstrate common obstetric assessment skills and assessments using models and simulation.
