Purpose Statement: This activity will enable the learner to explore best practices in the care of infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome.

Objectives:

1) Describe the Finnegan Scoring Tool.

2) Identify the definitions of the items that comprise the Finnegan Scoring Tool.

3) Identify how nurses can become reliable in the use of the Finnegan Scoring Tool.

4) Describe the importance of maintaining reliability in the use of the tool in the clinical area.
