Purpose Statement: This program will enable the learner to examine the impact of the Nebraska Action Coalition in transforming the nursing profession.

Participants will be able to:

  • Correlate the recommendations of the 2010 report The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) with healthcare transformation through the advancement of nursing education, leadership, and practice.
  • Discuss the establishment of the Nebraska Action Coalition and its relationship to national, state, and local level driving forces that contribute to the need for healthcare delivery change. 
  • Describe the IOM's practice, leadership, education, workforce development and interprofessional care recommendations, their application in urban and rural settings, and how these intersect with the role of the Nebraska Action Coalition.
