RNs preparing to take the NCC Maternal Newborn Nursing Exam, RNs currently certified in Maternal-Newborn or Low-Risk Neonatal Nursing through NCC, and any RN caring for obstetrical patients.

Purpose Statement: The purpose of this program is to prepare nurses to take the NCC Maternal Newborn Certification Exam.
• Identify common problems and complications that occur with the mother during the postpartum period.
• State principles important to the care of the bottle feeding newborn.
• Review maternal/newborn concepts related to lactation.
• Relate factors involved in newborn transition to extrauterine life.
• Explain newborn physiologic changes that occur in the first days of life.
