Purpose Statement: The purpose of this program is to prepare nurses to take the NCC Maternal Newborn Certification Exam.

Objectives:

• Relate concepts of stabilization/care of the newborn with cardiac, respiratory and hematopoietic complications
• Discuss concepts of stabilization/care of the newborn with GI, musculoskeletal, integumentary & HEENT complications.
• Describe concepts of stabilization/care of the newborn with neurological, GU, endocrine/metabolic disorders or prenatal substance exposure
• Delineate components of family-centered education for the family with a newborn.
• Recognize effective test-taking skills for multiple-choice tests.
