The purpose of this program is to provide information on issues and assessment in pain management as it relates to healthcare professionals.
Participants will be able to:

- Identify the processes involved in pain assessment.
- Examine legal issues seen in pain management related to healthcare professionals.
- Discuss ethical issues and challenges in pain assessment.
- Review issues in pain management in palliative and end of life care.

Marla Kniewel, EdD, MSN, RN is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Nebraska Methodist College. After many years as a staff nurse and then Neuroscience Care Coordinator, she began teaching in the classroom/clinical setting, teaching courses in Ortho/Neuro, Med/Surg, ICU, Cardiac, and pain management.
Nellie Johnson MSN, RN, CCRN is a nursing instructor at Nebraska Methodist College. Nellie has experience in the areas of Progressive Care, Critical Care and Cardiac nursing.
Mark D'Agostino, MD is a board certified anesthesiologist at Methodist Hospital. Dr. D'Agostino is the content reviewer and
a contributor to the course.
