Purpose Statement: The purpose of this program is to promote infection control interventions as it relates to the transmission of MRSA to themselves and patients.
Participants will be able to:
- Discuss the organism MRSA and define the history of MRSA, scope of problem, colonization vs. infection, and community MRSA onset vs Healthcare MRSA onset.
- Identify the impact on mom, baby and family for MRSA positive family members.
- Describe precautions clinicians should take across the clinic, inpatient, NICU and maternal child areas.
- Examine strategies to improve the care for patients who are positive for MRSA.
