Course Description

This program is for the novice health professional working with obstetric patients and the program provides the basic principles and concepts in the physiology of fetal monitoring through documentation.

Objectives:

  • Describe the transfer of oxygen from the environment to the fetus
  • Identify the fetal response to interrupted oxygen transfer
  • Discuss instrumentation for fetal heart rate and uterine activity monitoring
  • Identify basic fetal heart rate patterns using the NICHD criteria
  • Identify nursing interventions and  management of fetal heart rate patterns and uterine tachysystole 

In order to receive continuing education credit for this event, you must meet the following completion requirements:

  • Attendance at entire activity
  • Completion/submission of evaluation form
