Medication Aide
Become a Medication Aide - and Make Yourself More Employable.
As a Medication Aide (MA), you'll learn the roles, responsibilities and skills needed to safely administer medications to patients in their care. State law controls the activities of Medication Aides, who work under the supervision of a doctor, nurse or other qualified medical supervisor.
At NMC, you'll become familiar with the 14 basic competencies needed to meet the requirements of the Nebraska Medication Aide Act. You will also learn to monitor and identify specific drug families, actions and side effects, and be able to provide medication by oral, sublingual and other routes.

The Medication Aide certificate curriculum is designed to allow students to complete training in as little as three weeks.

Program Deadline
Registration must be completed one week prior to the class start date. Class size is limited, applications will be reviewed and approved on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Program Admissions Criteria
- Minimum age of 18
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Competent in basic mathematic skills
- Proof of current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider
- Demonstration of good physical health and the ability to lift 50 lbs
Program Registration Process
The following items must be submitted in order to complete the registration process and secure your place in the class:
- Medication Aide registration form
- Campus Health Services questionnaire provided to student upon received registration form with payment
- Payment of tuition
