Financial Aid Policies

When students sign their Acceptance of Award, they are saying that they have read the Financial Aid Policies and Procedures and understand them. These policies are contained in the Financial Aid Handbook. Most importantly are the Satisfactory Progress Policy and the Title IV Refund Policy.

The Satisfactory Progress Policy is important because the federal government says to remain eligible for federal financial aid, the student must do well academically. This is measured both Qualitatively (GPAs) and Quantitatively (complete at least 66% of the attempted courses). There are two policies: one for students in degree programs and one for students in certificate programs.

The TIV Refund Policy is especially important for students who withdraw from all courses in a semester. In order to keep (or earn) financial aid, a student must stay in at least one or more course past the 60% point of the semester or payment period (certificate students). Any student contemplating withdrawing from all courses are advised to review these policies as they have financial ramifications to the student. There are two policies.

Additional policies concerning enrollment status changes and its affect on financial aid, disbursement, loan, and summer financial aid policies are included in the Financial Aid Handbook. Again, there are two of them.
