Scholarships
Scholarships are an important financial resource in helping pay for college, and Nebraska Methodist College recognizes this through its scholarship offerings. In addition, students are encouraged to investigate external scholarship offerings available to them. Below is just a sampling of those offerings available.
Nebraska Methodist College Scholarships
Nebraska Methodist College scholarships consist of funds generously provided by the Methodist Hospital Foundation to assist our students.
Currently Enrolled Undergraduate Student Scholarships
Application deadline: January 15 each year
Currently enrolled students at Nebraska Methodist College must reapply each year to be eligible to renew their scholarship for the following academic year. The link to the online Current Student Scholarship Application is available December 1 – January 15. Paper applications, for those who prefer not to complete an online application, are available during this same time period outside the Financial Aid offices and in College Administration.

Methodist Health System Programs
Tuition assistance Program (TAP)
The Tuition assistance Program (TAP) provides up to $2,000 a calendar year for employees who have worked at least six months at a minimum of 16 hours a week prior to the beginning of the semester or term. The actual amount is limited to tuition costs of a course or degree program that is directly related to the employee's current position or to a promotion within MHS.
Employee Developement Grant (EDG)
The Employee Developement Grant (EDG) provides up to $1,600 an academic year for employees employed at the MHS for a minimum of two years and working at least a minimum of 16 hours a week.

Parent Discount Program
Parent Discount Program is available to students whose parents are employed by MHS and provides a 20 percent discount of tuition only.
College Work Study
Students may also consider the College Work Study Program. Student employment positions are available on campus in the library, bookstore and a number of academic or administrative offices. Students will be eligible for 10-12 hours per week of employment. Interested students must complete the FAFSA. Students may contact the Financial Aid Office regarding their eligibility.
Reserve Officer Training Corps ROTC
Nebraska Methodist College partners with Creighton University ROTC to provide scholarships and training for undergraduate nursing students. For more information on this partnership and to learn if you are eligible contact:

External Scholarship Opportunities
Students and parents should look at their own access to resources; student employers (tuition reimbursements or scholarships); parent employers (scholarships for dependents); as well as churches or organizations that students and or parents belong to. Many offer scholarships or assistance to their members.

Sallie Mae Fund Scholarship Programs
This year,The Sallie Mae Fund, a charitable organization sponsored by Sallie Mae and dedicated to college access, will make education dreams a reality for roughly 1,000 underserved students planning to attend college in the fall by awarding more than $2.5 million in college scholarships. Applications for these scholarships are now available online at www.thesalliemaefund.org.

The National Alaska Native American Indian Nurses Association (NANAINA)

The Nurse Education Loan Repayment Program
The Nurse Education Loan Repayment Program, administered by the Division of Nursing at NRSA, is available for registered nurses. Participants must serve at a health facility in an underserved area to receive loan repayments. http://bhpr.hrsa.gov/nursing/loanrepay.htm.

Please inform the Financial Aid Office. Nebraska Methodist College receives funds from the United Methodist Church. We often have scholarship applications for students who are active members of the United Methodist Church and we want to be sure you are considered.
The 40 & 8 George B. Boland Nurses Training Trust Fund
A limited number of $500 scholarships to be awarded to full-time nursing students. This can also be summer - if full-time (12 or more credits). No deadline - awarded until gone. A limited number of applications are available.
John Gyles Education Awards
Full Canadian or American citizenship is a requirement. Awards are available to both male and female students for all areas of post secondary study. A minimum GPA of 2.7 is required. Criteria other than strictly academic ability and financial need are considered in the selection process. Selected students will receive up to $3,000. Filing dates for mailing applications in 2006 are April 1, June 1 and November 15. To receive an application students send only a stamped, self-addressed envelope to:

United Methodist Church Scholarship Programs
Applications and brochure for several scholarships are available in the Financial Aid Office. More information on their Web site. Students must be an active, full member of a United Methodist Church for at least one year prior to applying, a citizen or permanent resident of the US, admitted to a full-time degree program, maintaining a 2.50 GPA. Several different scholarships (with different deadlines) including those for graduate students and minorities. More information on these scholarships is available at http://www.gbhem.org.
