Step 2: The Award Letter
About 30 percent of our students are selected for verification by the Federal Processor. We find that half of the corrections made turn out to be in the student's favor. If you are selected for verification, we will ask for more information, including your tax returns. You will not receive an Award Letter until you return all requested documents and all conflicts have been resolved.
If you are not selected for verification by the Federal Processor, the Financial Aid Office will send you an Award Letter.
Your Award Letter shows your awards and what you must do in order to receive them. You should review all portions of the Award Letter carefully. Be sure to note what information is still needed and what steps to follow in order to receive the awards.
Notify the Financial Aid Office if you receive any additional scholarships or other resources. Failure to do so in a timely manner may result in an over-award of financial aid, which you may need to repay.
Any loans indicated on the Award Letter require separate applications. You have control over the amounts that you borrow. If you want the loans you have been awarded, you must complete and return the application(s) and promissory notes.
If you are a new student at NMC and have received an Award Letter and want to apply for a loan, go to Loan Options.
Your awards may be further adjusted based on your enrollment status or if you receive additional resources.
