Frequently Asked Questions
How do you determine my enrollment as a basis for aid?
Determination of your enrollment and eligibility for grants and scholarships at Nebraska Methodist College occurs at the end of the last day of the first week of the term. Your student account should be credited with grant and scholarship funds within a week of the enrollment and eligibility determination. Loans are generally scheduled for the third week of class.
When do I get my refund after my tuition bill is paid?
Refunds of the excess funds usually start Friday of the third week of class. When the funds are actually ready for you, you will receive an e-mail in your College e-mail from the Business Office. Checks are picked up at the Business Office on the day and time indicated. If you want the check mailed, you need to respond to the e-mail. If you are using your financial aid for living expenses, please plan accordingly.
Will my financial aid be disbursed on schedule?
Only if you have submitted all required documents. If you have a Federal Direct Stafford Loan, you must have also completed your entrance interviews. Failure to have these items completed by the time Federal Stafford Loan funds come in requires us to return them to your lender. You will then have to reapply.
How is financial aid affected if I enroll at more than one college at the same time?
If you are enrolled at Nebraska Methodist College and another college at the same time, federal law prohibits you from accepting financial aid from both colleges. You may, however, use enrollment at another college to increase your enrollment status. Attending two schools at the same time is possible if you obtain College permission and the courses pertain to your degree at Nebraska Methodist College.
Will my financial aid be affected by withdrawing from school?
If you drop all of your courses prior to and including the first 60% point in your semester or term, you may have to return a substantial amount of money to Nebraska Methodist College and/or the U.S. Department of Education. Students thinking of withdrawing from all courses are strongly urged to consult with the Financial Aid Office first.
Are there financial aid programs available for students in the graduate programs?
Yes! NMC provides need-based grants to graduate students. To apply, students must fill out the FAFSA. Graduate Assistantships and Nurse Traineeships (nursing students only) are also available. Interested students should contact the program directors for these programs. Federal Stafford loans are available to qualified students. The Nurse Faculty Loan Program is available for students in the Master in Nursing- Nurse Educator Track program. These are loans that may be cancelled for service. Contact the Financial Aid Office for loan information.
