Nurse Aides are important members of the healthcare team. They generally work under the direction of supervisory staff within a healthcare facility. Nurse Aides work closely with patients on a daily basis to provide essential care such as checking vital signs, making up patient beds and assisting patients with tasks such as personal grooming.
Certified Nurse Aides (CNA) may also assist doctors, nurses and other medical personnel with medical procedures. Becoming a Nurse Aide is both a satisfying entry into the healthcare field and a great stepping stone for a career in nursing or another healthcare-related career. Nurse Aides can be qualified to work in a variety of settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities and medical offices as well as in home healthcare.
Nurse Aide Program Info
- The curriculum is a six-week certificate program. Small classes are taught by experienced instructors who encourage a hands-on approach to learning.
- The program emphasizes care for all types of patients. Special attention is devoted to the aging process, including identifying the physical and emotional aspects of aging and helping patients to achieve and maintain the optimal level of well-being at any age.
- Following completion of training, eligible students may take the competency exams to qualify for State of Nebraska Nurse Aide Registry placement.

Registration must be completed one week prior to the class start date. Class size is limited, applications will be reviewed and approved on a first-come, first-serve basis.

CNA Omaha Program Admissions Criteria
- Minimum age of 16
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Good physical health and the ability to lift 50 pounds
CNA Omaha Program Registration Process
The following items must be submitted in order to complete the registration process and secure your place in the class:
- Nurse Aide registration form with payment
- Campus Health Services questionnaire provided to student upon received registration form with payment
- Payment of tuition

| Cost for the entire program is: $480 |
- A course textbook is optional for the nursing assistant class and is not included in the above cost. You can either purchase the text from the NMC Bookstore, or you may also arrange to borrow a copy through the course instructor for the duration of the class.
- BLS Healthcare Provider (CPR) is included in the price of the course.
- Includes 8-16 hours of clinical opportunities, subject to availability.
