Course Description
Purpose Statement: To provide a forum that increases knowledge related to nursing care of the obstetrical patient.
Course Objectives:
- Describe care of the patient with hypertensive disorders in pregnancy.
- Demonstrate common obstetric assessment skills and assessments using models and simulation.
- Discuss nursing assessment and management of the woman undergoing cervical ripening and / or induction of labor.
- Identify non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic pain management strategies for the laboring patient.
- Describe the nurse's role in the assessment and management of the preterm labor patient.
- Discuss nursing care of common complications in the delivery room.
