Course Description


Purpose Statement: This interactive program will provide physicians and clinical staff new strategies, resources, and patient counseling techniques to improve wellness outcomes for patients with an emphasis on physical activity, nutrition, and stress management.

Conference Goals:

  • The participant will develop their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding evidence-based physical activity, nutrition, stress management, and preventive screenings.
  • Increase the number of health care clinics that design and implement workplace wellness programs that are visible to their patients.
  • Increase the number of clinicians who regularly counsel patients on evidence-based physical activity, nutrition, stress management, and preventive screenings and connect them with community resources.
  • Enhance the knowledge of clinicians of community resources that will support healthy lifestyle behaviors (physical activity, nutrition, stress management, and preventive screenings) for their patients and themselves. 
  • Develop a network to support clinicians in implementing personal behaviors, clinic wellness programs, and patient counseling to enhance wellness.

Wellness Activities (for Family Members and Conference Participants):

  • The All Before 8AM Adventure Challenge  - see flier
  • Persons registered for a guest room at the Lied Lodge have access to the Arbor Links Golf Course--an Arnold Palmer-designed course.  Call (866) 272-7453 for tee times
  • Persons registered for a guest room at the Lied Lodge have access to an Olympic size swimming pool 
  • Activities for conference participants and family members include an Adventure Challenge. 
  • Family members may participate in family Zumba, Tai Chi, yoga (for adults and kids), and a trip to the Tree House Adventure

Reminders -  Be sure to bring/wear  comfortable clothes for the conference as there are activity/exercise breaks included in the agenda.   You are also requested to bring your blood pressure reading and your cholesterol levels, if known (for your own use).
