Course Description

The purpose of this activity is to enable the participant to gain knowledge and skills in implementing nursing research and evidence-based practice at the bedside.

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe the barriers to effective handoffs experienced by staff nurses. 
  • State what the literature reveals about best practices for handoffs.
  • Discuss lessons learned regarding handoffs using one nurses experience at a different hospital.
  • Examine the process of implementing changes to the patient handoff report using a case example.
