General Background
Dr. Marlin Schaich is a professor of humanities and communications courses at Nebraska Methodist College, and Coordinator of NMC’s Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC). While completing a business degree, he rediscovered his love for literature and writing in a required lit survey course. The professor of this literature course, who had lost his entire family at age 10 during Nazi bombings of Belgium in World War II, led the class to tackle deep, human issues and emotions, and Dr. Schaich found his calling. Dr. Schaich went on to earn a doctoral degree in English from the University of Kansas. Since 2003 at NMC, he has designed or taught 19 different courses or seminars for both undergraduates and graduate students. Dr. Schaich, also known as NMC’s “APA Guru,” also serves as the “Writing Guy” for both students and faculty.

Dr. Schaich lives in Omaha, Nebraska with his wife, who is a nurse, and their pet conure Sunshine. They enjoy hiking, gardening, and Asian food (yes, Sunshine does, too!).
