General Background
Mrs. Steinhauser is an alumnus of Nebraska Methodist College. She returned to Nebraska Methodist College in 2008 after many years in working with the older adult in various settings. Much of her practice has focused on the Skilled and Long Term Care setting as staff nurse and manager. She has taught in the classroom/clinical setting across the nursing curriculum. Recently she has used that variety of experiences and moved to Coordinate Simulation in the Nursing Arts Center across the Nursing Curriculum and collaborating with other Healthcare Divisions at the college to assist with simulation in their programs.

Professional Service/Recognition/Charitable Boards
Mrs. Steinhauser is a Past Fellow of the National Gerontological Nurses Association and has served on and been co-chair of several national committees. She maintains her Board Certification in Gerontological Nursing. In 2015 she was honored as one of the recipients of the March of Dimes 'Nurse of the Year' Award for Gerontological Nursing. 

She is a member of the Tau Tau Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, Nebraska Nurses Association, Society for Simulation in Healthcare, International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation Learning. She is an American Heart Association CPR and First Aid Instructor. 

She is also active with both the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts serving as Camp Health Officer, Unit Leader, and volunteer at the local and national level. She has served as the volunteer Assistant Chief Nurse Officer for three previous National and International Jamborees in West Virginia. Colleen collaborates with a national committee to update national healthcare policies for Boy Scouts of America Camps and develop instructor resources to teach Wilderness First Aid.
