MS, Health Promotion Management
Amy will graduate in December 2012 with a Master's of Science in Health Promotion Management. She is from Hendricks County, Indiana and is currently working independently as a health coach. Amy answered a few questions about her experience as an online student at NMC.
Why did you choose NMC?
Because of the online option and it was recommended by WELCOA.
What did you like best about your experience?
The wealth of information that coincides with the CHES certification and direct application to corporate wellness.
What advice would you give to a prospective online student?
Time management is important. Having the free time to focus on reading, responding to discussion questions and papers is critical. Be interested in the subject matter, see how you can apply what you are learning to either your current position or future position. If you are passionate about health and wellness, this program will excite you!
How has your degree from NMC helped you progress in your career?
I applied for a high profile position and while I wasn't chosen (only 3 were), I was encouraged as the next in line. I answered all the questions in the interview to a tee due to my studies at NMC. While they were impressed, others had more experience than I. I look forward to gaining the experience to achieve my goals of helping many people make healthy lifestyle changes. I feel prepared to enter the workforce as a well informed wellness professional. I also feel confident to serve my community as a consultant to small businesses and offer programs to community members.
